I rethink I need to observe the client more.
4 Takeaways from Last Time
Last time, I’ve learned:
- Don’t stick to what you want to ask.
- Focus on the past and the future then the client see the path to the future from now.
- De-fact standard “Don’t disturb when the client think”.
- More body language and less sounds when you respond. It is common to respond according to the words and pace of the client by concept of mirroring and pacing.

What kind of environment you need to think?
I think many people say in the silence and nobody is there.
It’s same as during coaching session. When the client starts to think, don’t disturb and wait him with silence though you want to ask something.
More body language and less sounds when you respond
This time I’ve asked “how is better way to respond when client talks?”.
The answer is “More body language and less sounds when you respond. It is common to respond according to the words and pace of the client by concept of mirroring and pacing.”.
As I explained above, you should take care about your response because you have to not to disturb the client thinking. It’s better to respond according the words and pace of the client as the concept of NLP mirroring and pacing.
As much as possible, provide the space the the client think by himself.
The client falls into the illusion as he is doing self-coaching if you could provide the space like he responds his thoughts though there are 2 persons.
The success of coaching is that the client can do self-coaching without the coach. So make self-coaching situation when is coaching session. I’ve really impressed that coaching is designed very well.
The observation is very important to know the client’s words and pace.
You can’t know which he likes to be responded and how fast the conversation he likes, can you?
Actually, there is next level under condition of that you can do respond without disturbing the client to think. By using the concept of mirroring and pacing, the coach control the conversation speed.
What does it mean?
By changing your response speed or timing of response to earlier either more slowly, the client adjust the conversation speed to coach.
In this way, you will be able to control the conversation speed, design the session as you want and go to the next level as a coach.
